About Me
I am a child and adolescent psychotherapist based just outside Macclesfield.

I trained at the Tavistock Centre (London) and I am registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists.
I offer brief and long- term psychoanalytic psychotherapy to children and young people up to age 24, as well as parent and family work, and parent-infant work. My consulting room is in Bollington, with easy access to Macclesfield and Manchester by car, bus or train.
In addition to my private practice, I work in the NHS in a parent - infant psychotherapy service in the North West.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
Child and adolescent psychotherapy makes use of the relationship between the therapist and the young person to explore their experiences and difficulties.
Attending to a young person’s thoughts and feelings, both conscious and unconscious (those which we may be unaware of), can bring about change and development. Over time, this can relieve suffering and distress.
I offer a safe, non- judgemental space where children and young people are invited to express and explore what is on their minds. Younger children often communicate through play, whilst older children and adolescents may prefer to talk or draw. I have a range of toys and art materials for those who find it easier to express themselves non- verbally.

It is often helpful to meet parent(s) / carer(s) before beginning a piece of work with a child, and in some cases working exclusively with parents or carers can be an effective way to support the young person.
Parent - Infant Psychotherapy
Parent – infant psychotherapy offers support to parents who are experiencing difficulties bonding with their baby. For many new families, pregnancy and the early weeks/ months with a baby can be a very challenging time. Sometimes the challenges can feel overwhelming.
I work with parents during pregnancy and postnatally to help strengthen and develop loving relationships between parent and baby. Appointments offer a safe place to explore your concerns and think together about what might be getting in the way of enjoying your relationship with your baby.
Appointments are for parents together with your baby. We will think about your feelings as parents and also about your baby’s experience. Together we will try to understand what your baby is communicating and explore ways of responding.
